In September 2015, ELKAP was ready for take-off!
To make it happen, we have
- established a functioning Congolese development agency: ELKAP ASBL;
- created a technical team consisting of local engineers and operators;
- conducted roadshows and information campaigns, participatory meetings and trainings for the population;
- bought, cleared through customs, and transported to the site all material needed for the construction of the hydro-electric power plant;
- prepared and maintained the access ways;
- constructed the dam at the sight of the Rushish cataracts;
- put in place the double penstock pipes which bring the water from the dam to the turbines;
- constructed the turbine house;
- installed the turbines and the generator;
- built ELKAP ASBL’s headquarter in Ntita;
- provided technical training to local personnel;
- established a management team.
- built the whole transmission line connecting the Rushish cataracts to Musumba, Ntita, and Kapanga.
